FAQs – General and Context
Here are some common questions we get when we are engaging with potential clients. These are the more broadly applicable or contextual questions we receive.
Q: What should I expect during the first meeting?
A: The first meeting is focused on getting in your financial world. You don’t need to bring anything to this meeting, and there aren’t going to be any sales pitches. This meeting helps you and your adviser evaluate that we are a good fit and capable of addressing your needs. The initial meeting is at no charge. Q: What is a fiduciary?
A: Fiduciary is a legal term expressing a legal and ethical commitment to put a client’s best interest ahead of their own. In financial planning, this is quite different than a suitability standard where investments need to be deemed generally suitable for a client. IFC advisers have a duty of care as well as duty of loyalty. This means a high level of professionalism, knowledge, research, prudence, and prioritization of clients goals and priorities.
Q: Do I need to come into the office?
A: You do not, we’ve offerred virtual meetings since 2009. Financial topics are highly personal, and building a strong relationship with your adviser is important. We always enjoy the opportunity to meet with clients in person. That being said, we meet with clients virtually in many states, and even internationally. There are plenty of clients we’ve never met with in person ever, yet have enjoyed relationships that have lasted years so far!
